LuminAID: Give Light, Get Light

NIKE: THE POOL Saturday 14th May, Nike launch The Pool, a BMX project that transforms an ex-local authority 1970s build swimming pool in Dagenham, East London, into a world class BMX park free for the local community to ride, take lessons with pros, or just watch the action. An innovative use of an old building ready to be closed and demolished.The finished space is set to be truly amazing, tipped to be among one of the best BMX skate parks in the world. At the launch event this Saturday 14th May, Nike have invited 10 world class riders to choose 3 of their crew and show us what they’ve got for a share of a 25,000 euro purse. Nike Soccer: The Gamechanger Bucket

The quest for clean water has often eluded those living in less-than-ideal environments without the proper infrastructure. Having said that, Nike has taken on the role of philanthropist with their experimental Gamechanger Bucket. The bucket is essentially a pack that combines the necessities of clean water with the social enjoyment that comes with playing soccer. This video subsequently highlights the whole concept which was conceived with Waves for Water and piloted in Haiti. Each bucket provides clean water for 100 people for at least 5 years to stop the spread of disease and illness.

PROJECT M The Project M 2008 Team, in collaboration with HERO, has created a permanent Design Lab space in Greensboro, Alabama. This light-filled studio building is situated on the HERO campus which includes a bunkhouse for up to 10 people and lodging for visiting advisors. Greensboro is also the center of Hale County where the Auburn Rural Studio has been building wonderful structures to benefit the community since 1993. However, the Design Lab is only an empty building without passionate young designers to inhabit it on an on-going basis. This is where you come in. We encourage both Individuals and groups to contact us if they are interested in using the Project M Lab space to work on meaningful projects in Hale County.
