I’m going to be watching the tour everyday for my message….get back soon Adam we miss you already and don’t have too much fun in the south of France.Hello all. To everyone whose been wondering why one of us is in France…the above video is a full explanation. The Chalkbot. It’s a project that my friend James and I came up with at our day job while working for Nike and Lance Armostrong’s Livestrong brand. Even cooler, I got to work with an old friend in Pittsburgh (who was part of a similar robotics project almost a decade ago) to actually create it.
We finished our first day of robot printing yesterday and it was nothing short of amazing. The emotional weight of walking down a small French road that’s covered in messages from cancer survivors, families of those fighting cancer, people fighting cancer right this minute, et al can absolutely level you. I literally get choked up right now just thinking about it.
I can say without a doubt that this is by far the most rewarding thing I have ever worked on in my entire life. Cancer is something that affects all of us; there’s one degree of separation. We all know someone whose life has been impacted by it, and we all need to get off our asses and actually do something to prevent it. It doesn’t take a medical or biochemistry degree, it usually just takes heart.
I would absolutely love it if all of you went to the twitter account or website and filled out some messages of hope, courage, memoriam, or anything for yourself or those who you know have battled cancer on some level. Once we print it, we’ll send you an image back showing you your message and where on the Tour de France route it now lives. IT’S FREE!
Follow us on twitter to keep up with what’s going on. We’re posting pictures and videos every day.
Please repost/reblog/retweet as much as possible. It’s a huge help.
Lots of love from deep in the south of France,
Adam

Created by Urban Anthropologists Andy & Carolyn London, the film uses a blend of stop-motion and audio footage to bring to life inanimate objects that we pass by everyday.
